Voto Latina

Voto Latina! Midterm elections are coming up, and we’re hearing a lot about who’s going to vote, who’s going to win, who’s going to lose. But we’re not hearing a lot about, or from, Latinas in this discussion. So… Proyecto Latina wants to hear from you! We’re sponsoring our first Write It Up event. Here’s how it works:

We’re looking for short pieces (poems, stories, essays, knock knock jokes, chisme) about voting. These can be personal, political, or both, but should be under 250 words.
We’ll post our favorites on our website, www.proyectolatina.org, and spread the word on Twitter and Facebook.
One lucky writer will win a $15 gift certificate to Cafe Catedral, where we host the live Proyecto Latina event the 3rd Monday of every month. (This winner will be randomly selected – we love all of your voices).
The deadline is October 31st, but we’ll be posting what you send when you send it!

I saw the ad flipping through channels on the Jimmy Kimmel show. I thought it was a parody at first…That is SO messed up. Univision = sell out!
