Proyecto Latina 2011 – Sandra Delgado

Sandra Delgado

Well it’s January and our Proyecto Latina reading series kicks off with actress, director and producer Sandra Delgado!  I first met Sandra when I was working with Teatro Vista. Since then I’ve seen Sandra on various stages in Chicago and TV commercials.

A few months back, I was watching Law & Order SVU and all of a sudden there was Sandra on the show. I felt so proud! For some time now Sandra’s artistic self has been growing and now she is going to debut some new work that she has been quietly creating. We hope you will join us and spread the word about our first Proyecto Latina of the year!

She is a founding member of the multi-disciplinary theatre company, Collaboraction, an ensemble member of Teatro Vista and is a regular on many of Chicago’s stages including Steppenwolf, the Goodman Theatre, Lookingglass and About Face Theatre.  Chicago highlights include lead roles in Steppenwolf’s world-premiere of The House on Mango Street, Goodman/Teatro Vista/Collaboraction’s world-premiere of El Grito del Bronx, and Collaboraction’s Guinea Pig Solo.

She also produced Collaboraction’s popular Sketchbook Festival from 2004-2007. Outside of Chicago, she has been seen off-Broadway in intar’s points of departure, at Actors Theatre of Louisville in Ground, for their Humana Festival of New American Plays and at Missouri Repertory Theatre in Winter’s Tale.

Upcoming projects for 2011 include the world premiere of Tanya Saracho’s El Nogalar, a Goodman/Teatro Vista co-production at the Goodman, the remount of Collaboraction’s critically acclaimed Guinea Pig Solo, and developing para Madres, an original show with music, inspired by her mother and grandmothers.
